Superbet Rapid & Blitz Poland 2025: Fedoseev triumphiert
Das Superbet Rapid & Blitz Poland 2025 ist das Auftaktturnier der diesjährigen Grand Chess Tour und findet vom 24. April bis 1. Mai im Museum der Geschichte der polnischen Juden in Warschau statt. Gespielt wird täglich ab 14 Uhr, an den ersten drei Tagen im Rapid-Format (25 Minuten + 10 Sekunden pro Zug), danach zwei Tage lang Blitz (5+2) in einer Doppelrunde. Am Start sind zehn Weltklassespieler, darunter Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu, Alireza Firouzja, Levon Aronian, Jan-Krzysztof Duda, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave und Veselin Topalov. Der Preisfonds beträgt 175.000 Dollar, der Turniersieger erhält 40.000 Dollar sowie 13 GCT-Punkte, wenn er das Turnier ohne Stichkampf gewinnt.

Fedoseev triumphiert in Warschau
Vladimir Fedoseev hat das Superbet Rapid & Blitz Poland 2025 dominiert wie kaum ein Spieler zuvor in der Geschichte der Grand Chess Tour. Bereits drei Runden vor Schluss stand der russisch-slowenische Großmeister als Sieger fest. Mit 26,5 Punkten aus 27 Partien sicherte er sich einen der höchsten jemals erzielten Scores in der Serie – gleichauf mit Magnus Carlsen (Abidjan 2019) und nur knapp hinter Carlsens Rekord aus Kolkata (27 Punkte).
Als Wildcard war Fedoseev in Warschau ursprünglich nur Außenseiter. Doch er verlor nur eine einzige Partie – gegen Jan-Krzysztof Duda – und ließ gestandene Stars wie Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Levon Aronian und Alireza Firouzja klar hinter sich. Im Blitz gewann er unter anderem gegen Praggnanandhaa mit einem brillanten Zug 22...Ld5!!, der die Kommentatoren ins Schwärmen brachte. Seine Gesamtleistung brachte ihm 71 Blitz-Elopunkte und den Sprung auf Platz 13 der Live-Weltrangliste.
„Manchmal kann man kaum glauben, dass es einem selbst passiert“, sagte Fedoseev nach seinem Triumph. „Aber in diesen fünf Tagen lief einfach alles.“

WARSAW, POLAND (May 2, 2025) – The first leg of the Grand Chess Tour (GCT) came to a thrilling conclusion as wildcard Grandmaster (GM) Vladimir Fedoseev from Slovenia delivered a strong performance to win Superbet Poland Rapid & Blitz with three rounds to spare, finishing five points ahead of the field and taking home the top prize of $40,000.

GM Maxime Vachier-Lagrave finished in second place, taking home a prize of $30,000, followed by GM Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu who took third place and $25,000.

GCT participants are currently competing for a recently increased prize purse of $1.6 million over the course of the 2025 season. The prize fund for each of the two classical tournaments will be $350,000 and $175,000 per event for rapid and blitz. Top four finishers of the regular season of five tournaments will compete for the purse of additional $350,000 in the knockout matches at the GCT finals.
